Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: o Scheduled professional dental cleaning under sedation with a nitrous oxide/oxygen mixture o Consent to participate in the study o Age between 35 and 65 years o Language Proficiency in German

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: o Lack of verbal communication ability o Existing pregnancy o Vitamin B12 deficiency o Use of psychotropic drugs o Drug abuse o Alcohol abuse o Impaired nasal breathing (e.g., chronic mouth breathing, sinusitis, upper respiratory tract infections) o Pulmonary emphysema o Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease o Multiple sclerosis or severe central nervous system diseases o Treatment with bleomycin within the last seven months o Conditions that create enclosed and air-filled cavities (e.g., pneumothorax, middle ear infection, middle ear surgery/tympanoplasties, ileus, eye surgery with intraocular gas tamponade) o Lack of compliance
