Conditions

All patients who are of legal age and capable of giving their consent and who start partial or full inpatient treatment for mental illness at the Wahrendorff Clinic are included. Persons with eating disorders are excluded.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All adult patients in partial or full inpatient open treatment at the Wahrendorff Clinic who have a nutritional diagnosis and resulting nutritional problems during admission are recommended for the “Koch | Akademie” nutritional therapy program. All persons who receive this recommendation and decide to take part in this therapeutic program are included in the intervention group. All adult patients in partial or full inpatient open treatment at the Wahrendorff Clinic who have no nutritional diagnoses and no resulting nutritional problems during admission are not recommended for the “Koch | Akademie” nutritional therapy program. All persons who do not receive a recommendation are included in the control group.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Persons who are not able to complete the online questionnaire independently. People who do not have an internet-enabled device or an e-mail address. People who have already taken part in this study to evaluate the “Koch | Akademie” nutritional therapy program. People with eating disorders are excluded from the study.

MeasureTime frame
This is a longitudinal study with 3 measurement points. People in the control group (CG) are surveyed at the start of treatment (t1), end of treatment (t2) and 12 weeks after the end of treatment (t3). People in the intervention group (IG) are surveyed at the start of the ‘Koch | Akademie’ therapy module (t1), at the end of the therapy module (t2) and 12 weeks after the end of treatment (t3). The primary endpoints are - psychological symptom burden using ISR - ICD-10 symptom rating: t1 CG+IG, t2 CG*IG, t3 CG+IG - Mindful eating behaviour using the MEI Mindful Eating Inventory: t1 CG+IG, t2 CG*IG, t3 CG+IG - Intuitive eating behaviour using IES-2 Intuitive Eating Scale-2:t1 CG+IG, t2 CG*IG, t3 CG+IG - Eating quality: t1 CG+IG, t2 CG*IG, t3 CG+IG

The following secondary outcome variables are recorded at all measurement times: - Nutritional problems (CG + IG) - Dietary behaviour (CG + IG) - Evaluation questions of the nutritional therapy programme ‘Koch | Akademie’ (IG only)
