Interventions

Group 1: Single session of low-intensity protocols of three exercise modalities: - inspiratory muscle training (IMTLow - 40 percent intensity
3 sets of 15 repetitions), - isometric wall squat (IWSLow - 135 degrees intensity
2 bouts of 60 seconds), - dynamic leg press (DLPLow - 40 percent intensity
3 sets of 15 repetitions) and - isometric handgrip (IHGLow - 30 percent intensity
2 bouts of 60 seconds). Group 2: Single session of moderate to high-intensity protocols of three exercise modalities: - inspiratory muscle training (IMTHigh - 80 percent intensity
3 sets of 8 repetitions), - isometric wall squat (IWSMed - 115 degrees intensity
2 bouts of 60 seconds), - dynamic leg press (DLPHigh - 80 percent intensity
3 sets of 8 repetitions) and - isometric handgrip (IHGMed - 60 percent intensity
2 bouts of 40 seconds).

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Stable coronary artery disease

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - No signed informed consent - Acute infection - Clinical instability in the last month (e.g. decompensated heart failure) - Functional class IV of New York Heart Association - Cardiac interventions less than 6 months before inclusion in this study - Hypertension grade 2 (= 160/100 mmHg at rest) - Untreated life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias at rest/or during exercise - Acute aortic dissection - Acute myocarditis/ pericarditis - Severe hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy - Abdominal or inguinal hernia - Other clinical or/and functional limitations for the execution of evaluation tests and resistance training
