Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients presenting for primary total hip or knee replacement for the treatment of osteoarthritis (contact point: Musculoskeletal University Center Munich – MUM) or for their first interdisciplinary evaluation of vertigo, dizziness or balance disorders (contact point: German Center for Vertigo and Balance Disorders – DSGZ) at the LMU hospital

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Terminal disease, cognitive impairment, insufficient command of the German language or physical problems preventing participation, such as sensory impairments (bad sight or hearing) or a very low energy level

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Disease-specific functioning, assessed by questionnaires at baseline (before the treatment), follow-up 1 (3 months after the treatment), and follow-up 2 (12 months after the treatment) Assessment of osteoarthritis-specific physical functioning with the German version of the WOMAC (Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index) and assessment of functioning in patients with vertigo, dizziness, and balance disorder using the German version of the DHI (Dizziness Handicap Inventory)

Health-related quality of life, assessed using the EQ-5D-5L questionnaire (EuroQol Five-Dimensional Five-Level Questionnaire of the EuroQol Group) at baseline (before the treatment), follow-up 1 (3 months after the treatment), and follow-up 2 (12 months after the treatment)
