Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: • Planned bariatric procedure at Mannheim University Hospital • Presence of grade 3 obesity (body mass index = 40kg/m2) • Consent to participate in the study

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • Age < 18 years • Chronic lung diseases

Primary

MeasureTime frame
- Delta end-expiratory lung impedance preoperative - postoperative - after application of positive airway pressure

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
• end-expiratory lung impedance preoperatively, postoperatively and after application of positive airway pressure • Global end-expiratory impedance of the lung (delta baseline postoperative/60min postoperative) • Pulmonary ventilation distribution • Regional lung compliance • Regional ventilation delay • Regional variation of the tidal volume • Physiological parameters of lung mechanics • SpO2/FiO2 ratio • Oxygen requirement one hour after extubation • Duration of oxygen therapy for a target SpO2>95% • Hypoxia (SpO2 < 90%) one hour after extubation • Duration of postoperative recovery room • Cumulative oxygen requirement recovery room • Anthropometric data (age, height, weight, ideal body weight)
