Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Presence of a spiral tibial shaft fracture classified as AO:42A1 or AO:43A1 Treatment with either plating or intramedullary nailing Ability to follow up at the admitting hospital Written informed consent obtained from all participants

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Pre-existing conditions that impair mobility, such as hemiparesis Inability to walk unassisted prior to the accident Cognitive impairments affecting compliance with weightbearing restrictions (e.g., dementia) Additional fractures or injuries impacting lower limb stability Any condition that contraindicates the surgical method used
