Group 1: Conservative ACL therapy following a modified Cross-Bracing Protocol Group 2: Conservative ACL therapy following standard physio therapy focussing on muscle strenghtening and knee stability

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: • Presenting within one month after injuries • Decision for conservative treatment after accurate discussion about surgical and conservative treatment • ACL-Rupture without any significant concomitant injuries that require surgical treatment of the knee. (e.g. meniscal leasions, multiligament injuries other than Grade I or II MCL rupture) • Informed Consent as documented by signature

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • Concomittand injuries (e.g. meniscal tears, multiligament injuries other than grad I or II MCL-lesions) that require surgical treatment of the knee • Decision for surgical treatment after accurate discussion about surgical and conservative treatment • Lacking compliance to the treatment algorithm (early cast or brace removal without any medical advice,) • Inability to follow the procedures of the study, e.g. due to language problems, psychological disorders, etc. of the participant or missing support of their guardians as needed • Adverse events such as thrombosis during cast treatment • Previous enrolment of the same knee into the current study

Lachman and anterior drawer stability testing and computed arthrometer AP translation compared to unijured side Patient related outcome scores (KOOS-Child/KOOS-Adolescent) At therapy start, 3, 6 and 12 months after therapy start
