Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| ß-hydroxybutyrate (ßHB) in venous blood, measured before the intervention (t0) and 30, 60, 120, 180, 240 and 300 minutes (t2 - t6) after the intervention. Blood is taken via an indwelling venous catheter. | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| - body weight via body scales before the intervention days - height via stadiometer before the intervention days - body mass index (BMI) via calculation from body weight and height before the intervention days - body composition via bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) before the intervention days - insulin, glucose and essential/non-essential fatty acids in venous blood, measured before the intervention (t0) and 30, 60, 120, 180, 240 and 300 minutes (t1 - t6) after the intervention - Glucose and ßHB in capillary blood, measurement before the intervention (t0) and 60, 120, 180, 240 and 300 minutes (t2 - t6) after the intervention. - Acetone in the breath using a mobile breath acetone measuring device before the intervention (t0) and 30, 60, 120, 180, 240 and 300 minutes (t2 - t6) after the intervention - Ketone bodies, leukocytes, nitrite, pH, protein, glucose, urobilinogen, bilirubin, blood in the urine by collecting spontaneous urine and analysing it with urine strips between t0 and t6 - Resting energy expenditure (REE) and macronutrient contributions to energy metabolism via indirect calorimetry before the intervention days and once per intervention day | — |
