Investigation of frailty in hospitalised patients in the geriatric ward at Evangelisches Klinikum Köln Weyertal and the Department of Geriatrics and Geriatric Medicine at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin who are not suffering from an acute life-threatening illness. However, the test subjects suffer from various illnesses that are not the focus of the research in this study.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) Participant is hospitalised on the geriatric ward at Evangelisches Klinikum Köln Weyertal or the geriatric ward of the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin 2) Participant is able to give informed consent to participate in the study or has a legal representative to do so on his/her behalf 3) Participant has no life-threatening illnesses or serious organ failure

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Participant does not fulfil all of the inclusion criteria 2) Participant is unable to take part in the survey due to lack of German language skills 3) Presence of a life-threatening illness or serious organ failure 4) Lack of consent to participate in the study or inability of the participant to give consent

MeasureTime frame
Evaluation of the effects of dietary habits and early complex geriatric rehabilitation on frailty syndrome and the associated changes in micronutrients in the plasma of older people.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1) Determination of the MPI (Multidimensional Prognostic Index) in the first few days after hospitalisation to identify frailty syndrome. 2) Determination of energy requirements using calorimetry at the start of the inpatient stay 3) Determination of the dental health status at the beginning of the inpatient stay 4) Determination of body composition using bioelectrical impedance analysis at the beginning of the inpatient stay 5) Assessment of the patient's state of health one month after the early complex geriatric rehabilitation as part of a follow-up phone call
