Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Ischemic or hemorrhagic left hemispheric stroke (confirmed by imaging) - subacute phase (<= 3 month) post stroke at inclusion - 18 years or older - Presence of a aphasia defined by test performance in AAT - must be able to be mobilised in a wheelchair - sufficient vigilance for study participation - patient should be able to understand the study (with appropriate explanation) and must be able to provide consent. If necessary, relatives or caregivers can be consulted to assist in the decision-making process. Otherwise (if the patient is unable to give consent), the patient's representative will authorise participation in the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Relevant infectious diseases (requiring isolation) that pose an increased risk of infection for the other patients participating in the group therapy (e.g. COVID infection, MRSA in tracheal secretions) - History of severe alcoholism or drug abuse, severe psychiatric illnesses such as psychosis (if not in remission) - Previous stroke or other CNS lesion - Severe cognitive deficits (dementia) - Participation in other language intervention studies

(1) Communication skills (pre-post comparison), measured using the ANELT (2) Depressive symptoms (pre-post comparison), assessed by the BDI-V (simplified version of Beck`s Depression Inventory)

(1) Communication skills after 6 month, measures by ANELT (telephone interview) (2) other linguistic abilities (pre-post comparison): Naming, repetition, word and sentence comprehension; assessed by the Aachner Aphasia Test (AAT) (3) positve feelings (pre-post comparison); assessed via a Visual Analoge Scale explorative analysis with regard to: (4) self-assessment of quality of life (pre-post comparison and after 6 month) (5) psychological flexibility (one-time questionnaire) (6) Evaluation of therapeutic relationship (one-time questionnaire)
