Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The PANSS (Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale) (Kay, Opler, & Lindenmayer, 1989; https://doi.org/10.1192/S0007125000291514) is a semi-structured clinical interview that records the schizophrenic symptoms of the last seven days on a positive, negative and a general psychopathology scale. The difference in the positive items (from T0 to T1), which record the delusional ideas (P1: delusional ideas, P5: ideas of grandeur, P6: mistrust/persecutory ideas), serve as the primary target parameters in this study. The PANSS is an established scale in schizophrenia research. The PANSS is administered at the pre- and post-survey of the intervention period (Online-MCT/waiting list).

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The Psychotic Symptom Rating Scale (Haddock et al., 1999; 10.1017/S0033291799008661), PSYRATS for short, is a semi-structured interview that measures quantitative and qualitative aspects of delusions and auditory hallucinations, including strength of conviction and distress. Additional secondary outcomes are assessed by the following tests: The Fische Test (Moritz et al., 2012; https://doi.org/10.1155/2012/384039) is a computer-based version of the beadstask, which measures jumping to conclusion. The Rosenberg Scale (Rosenberg, 1965; https://doi.org/10.1037/t01038-000) is a self-report questionnaire that measures self-esteem. The Diagnostic Interview for Anxiety, Mood and Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Neuropsychiatric Disorders (DIAMOND) is a semi-structured interview for psychiatric disorders from the DSM-5 that also contains questions relating to the schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorders (Tolin et al., 2023). The Schizophrenia Hope Scale-9 (Choe, 2014; https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ijnurstu.2013.10.018) is a self-report questionnaire consisting of 9 items that measures participants' hope for a (better) future. The questionnaire was developed specifically for people with schizophrenia. Furthermore, questions about quality of life are asked in order to gain a subjective assessment of the participants' quality of life, as well as questions relating to possible mechanisms behind metacognitive training. The questionnaires of the secondary endpoint will also be administered at the pre- and post-surveys.
