Conditions

In this guideline, pathological fear of dental treatment is understood as an intense emotional reaction to elements of the dental treatment situation that causes suffering for the person affected and that seems exaggerated in view of the actual dangers in the situation. It not only manifests itself through feelings of fear, threat and discomfort, but also leads to cognitive distortions in the perception of the situation, to typical physiological changes and to escape, evasion and avoidance react

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
In an overall evaluation, taking into account the individual characteristics and needs of the participants, their personal feedback and various data collected before, during and after the dental treatment using questionnaires as well as various physiological parameters (pulse, oxygen saturation), new hypotheses are to be generated on the possibilities of future use of digital applications in the area of ??dental treatment anxiety. The focus is primarily on the stress level, the sensation of pain, the level of mindfulness and the acceptance of technology.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
For the secondary project goals, reference is made to the demographic data and the various primary parameters and whether correlations between the collected parameters (fear, pain, mindfulness level, technology acceptance, technology affinity, personality) can also be observed.
