Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Thoracic wall thickness in the Monaldi position (2nd/3rd ICR medioclavicular) and Bülau position (4th/5th ICR anterior axillary line) on the left/right hemithorax. The measurements are performed sonographically during the operation in the supine position.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
- Width of the intercostal space in the Monaldi position (2nd/3rd ICR medioclavicular) and the Bülau position (4th/5th ICR anterior axillary line) on the left/right hemithorax. - Visibility and depth of vital structures in the Monaldi (2nd/3rd ICR medioclavicular) and Bülau (4th/5th ICR anterior axillary line) positions on the left/right hemithorax. - Hypothetical failure rate using a standard 45-50mm needle length
