Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: -Acute heart failure as inpatient admission diagnosis, clinical signs of fluid overload/decompensation, NT-proBNP >1,800 pg/ml -Control group: cardiological diagnosis with the exception of acute heart failure, NT-proBNP value < 300 pg/ml; recruitment takes place both as an inpatient and via the university cardiology outpatient clinic

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: -Severe impairment of lung function with inability to perform a slow exhalation maneuver -Lack of cooperation or legal capacity of the patient -Lack of consent
