Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients had to be at least 18 years old at the time of inclusion in the study; there was no age limit. Written informed consent was also required. Only patients with previous surgery at the study centre were included. The indication for arthrodesis had to be due to endstage post-traumatic osteoarthritis.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Destructions of the ankle joint due to other causes such as rheumatic diseases or malignant bone neoplasms such as osteosarcoma were not included.

MeasureTime frame
After a mean follow-up of 5.8 years, this monocentric study included 221 patients (143 men and 78 women) and evaluated gender as an influencing factor using specifically validated scores such as Foot Function Index (FFI-D), Olerud-Molander Score (OMAS) and SF-12 questionnaire. The ability to return to the learned profession was a primary endpoint.
