Inclusion criteria: - elective supratentorial brain tumor removal

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - urgent or emergent cases - intracranial abscesses - supratentorial biopsies - transsphenoidal procedures - infratentorial tumors - tumors of the skull base

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary endpoint is the postoperative length of hospital stay from the time of admission to the ICU in group 1 or from the time of PACU admission for group 2 until hospital discharge. This data will be taken from admission/ transfer and discharge dates documented by the hospital's data management system.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
- total length of hospital stay - preexisting health conditions (neurologic, cardiac, pulmonary, hepatic, nephrologic, Diabetes) - continuous intake of anticoagulants and/or platelet aggregation inhibitors - demographics (age, body mass index, sex) - Length of stay in the ICU or PACU - postoperative complications (infections of the central nervous system, postoperative bleeding, ischemia, brain edema, thromboembolism, bloodstream infections, urinary tract infections, pneumonia, death) - 30 and 90day all-cause mortality and readmission rate - percentage of patients who were admitted to the ICU after initial PACU admission (conversion rate) This data will be taken from electronic patient files and anesthesia protocols documented and archived by the hospital's data management system.
