Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Initial ankle injury at least one year ago with signs of inflammation leading to at least one day of inactivity; last ankle injury at least three months ago; at least two episodes of "giving way" within the last six months; score =24 on the Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool on the affected ankle (in the case of bilateral complaints, the more severely affected side is taken into account)
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Acute lower extremity injuries, neurological disorders, lower extremity surgery, lower extremity fractures, chronic overuse injuries (Achilles and patellar tendinopathies); participation in targeted ankle rehabilitation programs, especially with balance training
