People in full inpatient care usually have multiple morbidities, with the majority suffering from dementia. However, other illnesses such as cardiovascular, musculoskeletal and endocrinological/metabolic diseases are also widespread among nursing home residents.

Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: The basic inclusion criterion for all project participants is the existence of a signed informed consent form. As this is primarily a qualitative data access project, a further inclusion criterion is that the interviewees have sufficient knowledge of German language to take part in an interview survey. In addition, the following inclusion criteria apply to the different survey groups: Group 1: The medical specialists should come from different disciplines, e.g. geriatrics, neurology, psychiatry, urology, gynaecology, ENT, ophthalmology, internal medicine. Group 2: Principal investigators are selected who have carried out projects to improve medical specialist and dental care for nursing home residents in the past or are currently doing so, regardless of the project sponsor. Group 3: The representatives of care facilities (e.g. care home manager) should be able to reliably assess the target values. Only care facilities in which projects to improve the medical specialist and dental care of care home residents have been or are being carried out are selected. Group 4: For the sample of nursing home residents, inclusion and exclusion criteria (e.g. age, level of education, degree of care dependency, multimorbidity, cognitive capacity) are defined with the clinical experts of the project team in advance of the interview (deductive sampling). According to the method of "purposive sampling", a targeted selection of the cases to be interviewed is then made on the basis of these criteria with the aim of maximising variation, as is usual for qualitative research. Group 5: If care home residents are unable to take part in the interview survey due to the inclusion and exclusion criteria that are still to be specified, their relatives will be interviewed. No specific inclusion criteria are defined for the relatives.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Nursing home residents who are no longer able to take part in an interview survey due to their physical or mental state of health. The specific exclusion criteria are defined in advance of the survey with clinical experts.
