Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The mechanical pain perception threshold is the value in mN above which a mechanical stimulus is perceived as painful. The mechanical pain perception threshold is investigated using PinPricks, which are small metal pins that exert standardised force when they hit the surface (skin). The threshold is determined in increasing and decreasing intensity in 5 measurement repetitions. The parameter is analysed at the beginning of the study and after 3 months of olfactory or placebo training.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
olfactory threshold: is a point value and is determined by means of a smell test, depending on the dilution level from which a fragrance is smelled, a point value is assigned, the higher the point value, the higher the dilution level and the olfactory ability mechanical pain sensitivity,: measures pain sensitivity to mechanical stimuli and is determined using quantitative sensory testing (QST) electrical pain threshold: measures how much mA a direct current stimulus is perceived as painful (using Digitimer Ltd: Medical and Laboratory Scientific Instruments) All parameters are analysed at the beginning of the study and after 3 months of olfactory or placebo training.
