Group 1: Rigid rectoscopy (RR
control group): Carrying out 1 rigid rectoscopy at the time of outpatient presentation if there is an indication for diagnostic rectoscopy due to suspected benign anorectal disease
Group 2: Flexible r
intervention group): Carrying out 1 flexible rectoscopy at the time of outpatient presentation if there is an indication for diagnostic rectoscopy due to suspected benign anorectal disease

Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Symptoms or suspected medical conditions warranting diagnostic rectoscopy
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Lack of capacity to consent, cases involving oncologic evaluation, known anal canal stenosis, recent resections in the rectosigmoid junction and strict indication for rigid proctosigmoidoscopy
