Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with indication for NIV-initiation due to chronic respiratory insufficiency according to national and international guidelines Patients who are able and willing to provide their data Naive to long-term NIV treatment, NIV therapy no longer than 7 days before inclusion into study Signed informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Inability to comply with planned study procedures or to comply with study protocol requirements. Another life-threatening disease (other than chronic respiratory insufficiency and underlying disease) with estimated survival < 12 months
