Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
1. The percentage of prosocial decisions in a dictator game during which participants have to choose between an egoistic and an altruistic resource distribution 2. Mean duration of resting EEG networks

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Performance during the TSST assessed by a composite score of a general performance rating (0-100) by the passive judge, by the participant, and by an additional video-rater. Furthermore questionnaire data will be collected (e.g. on stress appraisals, empathy, self-efficacy, etc.). Heart rate, cortisol levels, and subjective ratings are assessed for a stress induction manipulation check. The situational stress appraisals will be assessed for a manipulation check regarding the increased situational demands of the TSST in English (foreign language condition). Perception of own facial characteristics will be extracted applying a reverse correlation technique. Participants select one face out of two that looks more similar to their own. The prototypical “own face” is then extracted by averaging all the faces selected by the participants. For statistical analyses, correlations of the two prototype vectors (foreign language condition and standard condition) and personality prototype vectors (e.g., agency, competence, threat) will be calculated.
