Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) with PaO2/FiO2 < 100 mmHg Treatment with veno-venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Age < 18 years, contraindications to prone positioning, pregnancy, presence of a cardiac pacemaker and/or implanted defibrillator, and life expectancy < 24 hours.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Transpulmonary Driving Pressure during ultraprotective ventilation The measurements are conducted and compared in the supine and prone position.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
This study evaluates the effects of prone positioning on the mechanics of the partitioned respiratory system (lung and chest wall), pulmonary ventilation and perfusion distribution, hemodynamics, and gas exchange.
