Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: General reconnaissance ability had to be given, and prior written informed consent and a minimum age of 18 years were required for participation in the study. There was no maximum age limit. The indication for minor or major amputation was due to untreatable tissue destruction, loss of function, pain or infection of the affected limb. In most cases, a combination of the conditions described above was present.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: With the exception of isolated toe disarticulations and knee disarticulations or above-knee amputations, all lower limb amputations were included, regardless of etiology. In addition, regardless of previous operations by other surgical centers, the amputation had to have been performed at the study center.
