Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: · Patients requiring a single implant in the posterior area (premolars and molars, maxilla or mandible) with a single-tooth supported crown · Systemically healthy, smoking = 10 cig./day · No bone augmentation required · Mucosa thickness = 2.5mm.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Smoking > 10 cig./day · Poor oral hygiene after hygienic phase · Periodontal disease, i.e. residual pockets > 4 mm · Need for bone augmentations · History of radiation in head-neck area · Systemic or local disease or condition that can compromise healing or osseointegration · Use of drugs influencing bone metabolism · Severe bruxism · Poor compliance or unwillingness to return follow-ups
