Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: • Pilot in active duty with a valid A320 family type rating • Male, female, or non-binary • Age 18 - 45 years • Written informed consent (incl. consent form for test subjects, contract for test subjects, and data protection declaration)
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: • Any medication influencing the examination parameters (e.g., sleeping aids) • BMI 30 kg/m2 • Acute or chronic diseases • Alcohol and/or drug addiction • Above-average caffeine consumption (i.e. >4 cups of coffee/black tea per day) • Nicotine consumption (e.g., smoker)

| Throughout the test session in the flight simulator, participants rate their subjective fatigue and sleepiness at several intervals. - Karolinska Sleepiness Scale: The KSS is a 9-pt Likert scale to assess subjective, acute sleepiness. - Samn-Perelli Fatigue Scale: The SP is a 7-pt Likert scale to assess subjective, acute fatigue Sleep: The occurrence of sleep and its duration, quality and structure (e.g., frequency of sleep stages before awakening; percentage of Pilots Resting who fell asleep, i.e., thus in a state sleep inertia at the time of the system error) during eMCO segments will be assessed using portable EEG (i.e., Dreem 2 headbands). | — |

| Flight simulator performance, measured as reaction time in response to a system error and failure/success in solving the system error under sleep inertia. A number of action items, as defined in the aircraft handbook, need to be correctly executed, in order to solve the system error. The time it takes to execute each item will be measured (individual reaction times) as well as the overall time to solve the error (overall reaction time) and whether the error was solved (success yes/partial). | — |
