Age
35 Years to 80 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: BMI < 35, primary osteoarthritis of the hip

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: ASA4, tumour rheumatoid arthritis, severe contralateral hip arthritis, severe gonarthritis, radiculopathy, severe osteoporosis, implants not suitable for MRI, claustrophobia

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Degree of muscle damage as quantified by MRI prior to surgery, 3 days and 6 months after surgery. In addition, skelettal Troponin T will be quantified preoperatively, 6h, 24h and 48h after surgery.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Oxford Hip Score, Troponin T, EQ-5D-5L, Forgotten Joint Score, Pain. Clinical follow-ups with determination of the above mentioned scores will take place 6 weeks as well as 3, 6 and 12 months after surgery
