Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: a) Age 6 – 12 years b) Both genders c) 30-45 children with BECTS: (1) standard wake EEG showing a normal background and at least one focus of spike-waves in the centro-temporal region (maximum electronega-tivity at electrodes C3, C4, T3 or T4, according to the international 10–20 electrode placement system; (2) normal neurological examination; (3) absence of mental retar-dation (Perceptual Reasoning Index > 80); (4) Normal structural MRI (5); if epileptic sei-zures had occurred, semiology of seizures suggestive of BECTS; (6) patients are not un-der antiepileptic drug treatment. d) 30 children with CSWS (more the 85% of EEG is involved in spiking activity according to the spike index) e) 30 children with partial epilepsy associated with focal lesional epilepsy f) IQ > 65
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: a) Mental retardation (IQ < 65) b) Cerebral palsy c) History of convulsive status epilepticus d) A clinical diagnosis of autism in children with BECTS
