Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Current diagnosis of unipolar depression according to DSM-V or ICD-10, minimum sum score of 9 on the GRID-HAMD-17 rating, sufficient understanding of the German language

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Signs of increased risk of suicidality (GRID-HAMD item 3 score > 2 or indications in MINI-DIPS screening), psychotic symptoms, bipolar disorder / manic symptoms, disorders from the schizophrenia spectrum, substance dependence, epilepsy or other underlying neurological disorders

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Depression symptom reduction (self-report and other-report) from T0 to T1, T2, and T3.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Improvement in quality of life and comorbid anxiety and stress symptoms from T0 to T1, T2, and T3. Further improvement in attention, and changes in EEG (ERPs) and fNIRS (oxy- and deoxy-Hb) from T0 to T2.
