Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| - Primary endpoints: Falls rate, rate of fall-related injuries at 12 months. Self-reported at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months using a structured questionnaire (fall yes/no, number of falls, consequences). Falls are defined as: "An unexpected event in which the participants come to rest on the ground, floor, or lower level." (Lamb et al. 2005, J Am Geriatr Soc). Fall-related injuries are defined as physical harm or injuries resulting from a fall. | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| - Proportion of fallers, recurrent fallers at 12 months. - Rate of fall-related fractures (hip), falls requiring medical attention, falls resulting in hospitalization at 12 months. - Physical function at 16 weeks using the Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB) [subgroup]. - Physical function at 16 weeks using the Timed-up & Go test (TUG) [subgroup]. - Physical function at 16 weeks using the Four Square Step Test (FSST) [subgroup]. - Physical activity at 16 weeks using sensor-based 7-day activity monitoring (activPAL micro 4) [subgroup]. - Concerns about falls at 16 weeks (subgroup) and 12 months using the short form of the Falls Efficacy Scale International (FES-I[SF]). - Risk of low protein intake at 16 weeks (subgroup) using the Protein Screener 55+ (Pro55+). - Loneliness at 6 and 12 months using the UCLA Loneliness Scale. | — |
