Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: • Going through the internal donor evaluation for a potential living kidney donation, • Minimum age: 18 years, • estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) > 30 ml/min/1.73m², • written consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • Presence of non-MRI-compatible implants or any type of metal in and on the body, • history of intolerance reaction to gadolinium-containing contrast media, • hearing disorder or increased sensitivity to loud noises, • limited temperature sensitivity, • claustrophobia, • > 150 kg body weight, BMI >35 kg/m2, • people who do not want to be informed about incidental findings, • pregnancy, breastfeeding women.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Proof of non-inferiority of 4D magnetic resonance urography (MRU) in the determination of lateral renal function compared to the current clinical standard of 99mTC-DTPA renal scintigraphy (reference method).

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
•Feasibility of 4D MRU in everyday clinical practice. •Measurement of the glomerular filtration rate (GFR measurement) using 4D-MRU in comparison to 9mTC-DTPA plasma clearance. •Comparison of the recorded anatomical conditions with other standard procedures (e.g. CT, etc.).
