Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult patients with high-grade liver fibrosis (detected by a liver biopsy or a liver stiffness measurement >15kPa)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Other life-threatening medical conditions, minority, pregnancy, known drug abuse or participation in drug substitution programs, inability to consent. In the prospective part, complications of liver cirrhosis are to be recorded, even if they are life-threatening.
