Interventions

Group 1: In the OR, just before haemorrhoidectomy, the skin within a 10cm perianal radius is shaved with an electrical razor. Group 2: No hair removal is performed before haemorrhoidectomy.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Planned Milligan-Morgan haemorrhoidectomy for second- or third-degree hemorrhoids

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Immunosuppression, septic focus, pregnancy, lack of informed consent

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Surgical site infection (according to CDC criteria) or delayed wound healing (< 50% granulation tissue after 14 days)

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
postoperative pain (day 1, 2, 7, 28), length of hospital stay, adverse events (according to Clavien-Dindo classification), patient satisfaction
