Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Dental patients or patients with a tumorous disease of the oral cavity or other tumorous diseases of the facial region.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Genetic structural disorders of the tooth structure (e.g. amelogenesis imperfecta) - Lack of capacity to consent - Other reasons which, in the opinion of the treating or study-including physician, make participation in this study inappropriate.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Caries expression as a function of the AQP5 A(-1364)C promoter polymorphism at the time of study inclusion

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
- Periodontitis expression as a function of the AQP5 A(-1364)C promoter- polymorphism at the time of study inclusion - Prevalence of caries as a function of AQP5 A(-1364)C promoter polymorphism at the time of study inclusion - Prevalence of periodontitis as a function of AQP5 A(-1364)C promoter- polymorphism at the time of study inclusion - Prevalence of caries as a function of other polymorphisms of appropriate candidate genes at the time of study inclusion - Prevalence of periodontitis in dependence of other polymorphisms of suitable candidate genes at time of study inclusion - caries prevalence in dependence of other polymorphisms of appropriate candidate genes at the time of study inclusion - Periodontitis expression in dependence of other polymorphisms of suitable candidate genes at the time of study inclusion - Correlation of patient risk factors (e.g., previous diseases) with the prevalence of caries - Correlation of patient risk factors (e.g., preexisting conditions) with the prevalence of periodontitis For tumor patients, additionally: o correlation of tumor spread with the prevalence of caries o Correlation of tumor spread with the prevalence of periodontitis o Correlation of the tumor treatment modality (e.g., radiotherapy) with the prevalence of caries o Correlation of tumor treatment modality (e.g., radiotherapy) with the prevalence of periodontitis
