Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients (age range: = 7 bis < 14 years) with a diagnosed asthma and the presence of informed consent and sufficient language skills (oral/written)

| Firstly, the influence of asthma training on the development of health literacy, specific understanding of the disease, and the course of the illness in children aged between 8 and 12 years will be investigated. Specific hypotheses/outcomes: 1) Does an asthma training lead to improved health literacy in children with asthma? 2) Does an asthma training result in improved specific understanding of the disease in asthmatic children? 3) Does improved health literacy lead to improved specific understanding of the disease in asthmatic children with asthma? 4) Do improvements in health literacy and specific understanding of the disease lead to a milder symptom progression in children with asthma? 5) Do improvements in health literacy and specific understanding of the disease lead to fewer emergency visits in children with asthma? | — |

| Secondly, the influence of socio-economic status regarding the benefits of asthma training in childhood and adolescence will be examined further. Specific questions/outcome: 1) Does the socioeconomic status have an influence on the retention rate of information and disease understanding in children after asthma training and medical discussion? 2) Do children with a lower socioeconomic status have a poorer retention rate after asthma training and medical discussions? 3) Do asthma training programs improve the retention rate of disease-specific information in children with a lower socioeconomic status? 4) Do children with a lower socioeconomic status benefit from asthma training resulting in fewer exacerbations compared to children without asthma training? 5) Do children with a lower socioeconomic status suffer from exacerbations more frequently than children with a higher socioeconomic status? | — |
