Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: • Adult patients > 18years • Hospital admission • Respiratory failure as defined by at least one of - SpO2* < 90 % without oxygen or - Need for oxygen supplementation*

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • Long term oxygen therapy (LTOT) • SpO2* > 96 % with oxygen therapy • Invasive mechanical ventilation • Lack of informed consent
