Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: The following criteria are applied to the group people with Parkinson's disease: 1. diagnosed Parkinson's disease according to the Brain Bank clinical diagnostic criteria in clinical stages Hoehn and Yahr I (mild unilateral disorder) to III (bilateral disorder but no wheelchair requirement). 2. clinically safe gait pattern (MDS-UPDRS = 3). 3. right-handed person 4. age between 50 -80 years 5. fluent in German The following criteria will be applied to the group of elderly participants: 1. right-handed person 2. age between 50 -80 years (matched to the Parkinson patients) 3. fluent in German 4. mini mental status = 26 or MOCA test (cognitive screening test) = 25 points.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: The following criteria are applied to the group of people with Parkinson's disease: 1. mental or neurological disorders other than Parkinson's disease 2. not capable of explanation 3. impaired gait 4. injuries of the gait apparatus in the last 6 months 5. alcohol consumption before the experiment The following criteria will be applied to the Elderly group of participants: 1. mental or neurological illness 2. not capable of explanation 3. impaired gait 4. injuries of the gait apparatus in the last 6 months 5. alcohol consumption before the experiment

| We expect that reaction times will be slower for walking than for standing and that this difference will be larger in subjects with PD than in the control group. The main target criterion is whether the mean reaction times (ms) of a cognitive task differ between standing and walking in subjects with PD and in healthy, older subjects. | — |

| We expect that an additional task is associated with an altered cortical activation pattern (exploratory question). This should show up statistically as an interaction of the factors movement (standing, walking, ergometer) and working memory load (low, high). Event-related neuro-nal activity (e.g. potentials and oscillations) during walking or ergometer use will be compared between persons with PD and the comparison group (explorative question). Furthermore, event-related potentials (e.g. mean amplitude) of the cognitive task will be investigated across exercise conditions and groups (e.g. as analysis of variance with repeated measures) (explorative question). Also, a possible relationship between cortical correlates of walking and self-reported gait limitations (e.g., FOG-Q) can be investigated (exploratory question). | — |
