Conditions

The study is transdiagnostic and thus includes a wide variety of Axis I and Axis II disorders according to ICD-10. Excluded are developmental disorders, intelligence disorders and neurodegenerative disorders.

Interventions

Group 1: Patients with mental disorders Included are 170 participants between 18 and 60 years with Axis I or Axis II disorders, excluding neurodegenerative- developmental- or intelligence disorder. P

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Comparison of anger and aggressive reactions between participants and patients and developing subgroups based on that Therefore the Technical Provocation Paradigm and the modified Taylor Aggression Paradigm is used. In addition biological marker (respiration, pulse), hormonal marker (testosterone, estrogen, progesterone and cortisol), volatile organic substances and brain activity and connectivity are measured. Also important are behavioral measurements via Joystick movement and money deduction in the paradigm. Paradigms in the scanner - Taylor Aggression Paradigm - Technical Provocation Paradigm Measurements: - Brain activity and connectivity via fMRI (3T Siemens) - Endocrine Marker via saliva sample (passive drool method) - Molecules in breath via Proton-Transfer-Mass-Spectrometer - Subjective Evaluation via multiple questionnaires The measurements take place the same day and are directly linked to each other. The measurement starts with a saliva and a breath sample collection. Participants then work on the two provocation paradigms in the scanner for approximately 60 to 90 minutes and provide a saliva and breath sample again. The final task in the scanner is the Voodoo Doll Task, which takes approximately 20 minutes. Before the questionnaires are completed, the last saliva sample is taken. Over a period of four weeks (starting the day after the examination), participants then complete an approximately 5-minute questionnaire online three times a day.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Assessment of aggression, impulsivity, traumatic experiences, daily anger plus testing of anger induction via Voodoo Doll Task - Voodoo Doll Task in the scanner - Affective Style Questionnaire (ASQ) - Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ) - Selfishness Questionnaire (SQ) - Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS-15) - Becks Depression Inventory II (BDI-II) - Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) - Bermond-Vorst Alexithymia Questionnaire (BVAQ) - Aggression-ES-A
