Accompanying evaluation of a door-exit-information-system . Experiences of nursing staff, patients with wandering and their caregivers as well as recording of the process design for the use of the system

Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Interviews with nurses: - Staff of the ward: - Employees of the nursing service (nurses with 3-year training, nursing assistants, nursing assistants and trainees or students) and all nursing support professions (service assistants, hotel staff, supply assistants), - physicians, - medical-technical assistants, physiotherapists, speech therapists and occupational therapists, - speaks and understands German, - has experience with the TASYS. 2. interviews with inpatients - able to communicate, - speaks and understands German, - has worn or is still wearing the safety bracelet, - Patient does not necessarily have to be oriented to all dimensions if a caregiver agrees to support the interview. 3. interviews with caregivers - Law. Representative or other close caregivers - speaks and understands German. 4. observations: Nursing staff or other employees of the wards involved should be observed during an entire shift. Here, the focus is on the overall situation and not on individual persons. The researchers are aware that they are still involved in the situation as individuals. Special attention is given to the following situations: - Handling and implementation of the TASYS by the professional staff, - Cooperation with colleagues (e.g. conversations, handover, rounds), - Handling of the TASYS, - Dealing with cognitively impaired patients with walking tendencies, - environmental design.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Interviews with nurses: - Staff from other, non-involved wards, - has no previous experience with the TASYS, - there is a verbal or written objection by a person present. 2. interviews with inpatients: - Limitations of vigilance: somnolent, soporific, comatose, - does not wear a safety bracelet yet, - Patient is not capable of giving consent and has no caregivers who can do so. - there is a verbal or written objection by a person present, - verbal or non-verbal gestures and facial expressions that are perceived by the researchers as a rejection of the interview (at any time), - statements or comments that indicate disapproval of the researcher's presence (at any time). 3. interviews with reference persons: - No legal Representative or close reference person - there is a verbal or written objection by a person present. 4. observations: The observation is always terminated when: - A verbal or written objection is made by a person present in the observation, - the refusal of a person present is communicated to the researchers by a third party, - verbal or non-verbal gestures and facial expressions that are perceived by the researchers as a rejection of the observation or their presence, - Expressions or comments that indicate disapproval regarding the observation or the presence of the researcher.

| (a) Interviews with nurses and, if necessary, other staff members of the ward. 1. experience of the use of the door-exit-information-system (TASYS) and the signals associated with it, 2. inhibiting/promoting factors in the implementation of the TASYS, 3. actions, procedures and motives leading to the use of the TASYS, 4. indication and selection of patients, 5. general handling of and attitudes towards running tendencies on the ward, 6. own ethical considerations and assessments of the TASYS, also with regard to measures restricting freedom. During the survey period, 2-4 nurses per ward will be interviewed. (b) Interviews with patients 1. experience of the use of the TASYS, especially with regard to the dimensions of safety and self-determination, 2. considerations in the decision to use the TASYS, 3. perception of the reconnaissance. During the survey period, a maximum of 2 patients per ward should be interviewed, if necessary together with their caregivers. (c) Interviews with caregivers 1. experience of the use of the TASYS, 2. considerations in the decision for the use of the TASYS, (3) perceptions of education. A maximum of 2 caregivers per ward will be interviewed during the survey period. (d) Participatory observations in the context of hospitations A total of approx. 3 hospitations are to be carried out to collect processes, background information and to reconstruct procedures during the introduction and implementation of the technology on the ward. 1. use of the system, 2. technical infrastructure, 3. inhibiting/facilitating factors during implementation, 4. interaction between patients, caregivers or legal representatives and staff regarding the TASYS. Note: This is a accompanying evaluation study with a qualitative-exploratory approach, so there is no "hierarchization" of endpoints in advance, and thus no "secondary endpoints." | — |
