Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Admission to the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy III at the University Hospital of Ulm by an emergency physician or the ambulance service. Informed consent in writing and verbally.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Age < 18 years. Severity of the illness that makes it impossible to take part in the study. Insufficient knowledge of the German language. Prior to the start of the interview, lack of verbal and written consent for the study.

How does the ongoing doctor-patient relationship in acute inpatient psychiatric treatment be affected by the emergency medical service's handling of the acute psychiatric patient? The patient survey is conducted in a structured written form by the patient him/herself using a patient questionnaire. The questionnaire is collected by the doctoral students after a period of time agreed individually with the patient. The following information is collected: Demographic data Patient identification number Age (date of birth) Sex (gender) Diagnosis Case record characteristics Interventions (free text analysis) Medication Mode of drug administration (intravenous, intraosseous, per os, nasal) Initial diagnosis Emergency physician/paramedic Current admission Type of current admission (acute, police/paramedic/emergency, nursing) Psychiatric history Previous psychiatric treatment Previous inpatient psychiatric admissions	—
