Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Elective cardiac surgery (on pump) a. Aortic valve replacement (AVR) b. Mitral valve replacement/reconstruction (MVR) c. Combination (Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)+AVR, CABG+MVR, AVR+MVR, CABG+AVR+MVR) 2. Sufficient knowledge of the German language, as the neuropsychological tests are language-dependent 3. Written informed consent of the patients to participate in the studies 4. Available biomaterial
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: - previous cardiac surgery - preoperative psychiatric illness (dementia, depression) with acute symptoms that could interfere with neuropsychological testing - preoperative neurological diseases (stroke) with acute symptoms that could interfere with neuropsychological testing
