Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Diagnosis of mild to moderate alcohol use disorder according to DSM V, i.e., 2-5 criteria met. - Sufficient ability to communicate with investigators, to answer questions in oral and written form - Ability to give fully informed consent ("Fully Informed Consent") - Normal or correctable (with contact lenses) visual impairment.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - severe withdrawal symptoms (CIWA-R > 4). - Alcohol intoxication (breath alcohol concentration > 0.3 ‰) - History of withdrawal complications or severe withdrawal symptomatology. - Axis I disorder according to DSM V (except alcohol dependence and specific Phobia within the past 12 months). - Current substance abuse (THC, amphetamine, opiates, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and cocaine) - Wearing glasses (without the ability to wear contact lenses) - Traumatic brain injury or injury/surgery to the head - Parkinson's disease or epilepsy as a pre-existing condition

The study aims to investigate attentional control after acoustic alcohol-associated priming in subjects with mild to moderate Alcohol Use Disorder ("AUD"). ("Alcohol Use Disorder", AUD) by measuring eye movement using advanced eye-tracking techniques. Via pupillary response and subsequent scale-based recording of valence, arousal, and subjective craving for substance use, the effect of acoustic priming can be analyzed, and the objective response can be compared with the subjective response of the subjects. For the study of top-down control on the groups (AUD, control group) at lower and higher utilization, inferences can be made about top-down control based on subjects' reaction times and correctly detected objects. Based on the subjects' pupillary response and scale-based subjective information, we expect increased craving for substance use and decreased top-down control in subjects with alcohol use disorder. The aim of the study is to better characterize the influence of priming with addiction-associated audio stimuli on altered attentional control for specific stimulus characteristics (context, complexity) over time. This should serve a better understanding of addiction development and maintenance in relation to alcohol use, thereby perspective, an improved care of patients (e.g. via the improvement of existing cue-exposure procedures) would be possible. In the long term, this should lead to a reduction in the likelihood of relapse.
