MeasureTime frame
The study pursues the goal of analyzing the gap between expectations (guideline, nursing standards) and the actual status quo with regard to the implementation of gender-specific care in hospitals, both in medical and nursing care. The second goal is to develop recommendations for action to implement more gender-sensitive care in lived practice. A mixed-methods approach will be used to achieve the goals stated above. In the first part of the empirical evaluation, focus group interviews will be conducted with physicians and nurses in 9 pilot hospitals to gather information about the degree of implementation and acceptance on the topic of gender-specific care. The aim is to investigate at which point in the diagnostic process and in the therapy decision gender specifics are taken into account. In parallel, expert interviews will be conducted with persons from the fields of nursing, medicine and politics. This will serve to examine the topic from different perspectives. Hypotheses are derived from the findings of the interviews. In the following quantitative part questionnaire surveys are accomplished over a roll out country widely. The findings and surveys from the qualitative surveys will be taken into account in the design of the questionnaires. The results of the surveys with the various stakeholders will be used to derive recommendations for action, approaches, implementation strategies and interventions to strengthen the implementation of gender-specific care in hospitals.
