Interventions

Group 1: Patients with suspected acute stroke. During the study, the common carotid arteries of patients with suspected acute stroke will be examined using a "point-of-care-ultrasound" (POCUS).

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. adult patients 2. patients who have been admitted to the emergency department of the UKA with the suspicion of an acute stroke

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. pregnancy 2. persons who are in a dependent or employment relationship with the sponsor or investigator 3. patients with a history of trauma and/or fractures of the cervical spine; cervical injuries; cervical brace; wounds and/or wound healing disorder and/or inflammation in the region of the neck; cervical surgery in the last 30 days; contraindication to head rotation 4. patients for whom POCUS is likely to delay routine further treatment 5. lack of consent by the patient, proxy or independent medical doctor
