Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: A generally healthy constitution.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Previous mental illnesses, operations in the last three months, acute inflammation, scars in the lumbar area, knowing adhesions or hematomas in the lumbar area, lumbar back pain (at least 6 months pain-free), physiotherapeutic treatment in the last 8 weeks.

Process Before the measurements, the subjects are given information on how to carry out the exercise and measurements. The initial measurement (baseline) is carried out first. After a standardized warm-up session (running, gymnastics, warm-up sets of trunk extensions), the study participants perform two sets of trunk extensions up to the performance limit on a back trainer under the guidance of an experimenter. A post-interventional measurement follows immediately after the procedure, 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours later. 1 Stiffness The stiffness (deformation stiffness of the tissue in N/mm2) of the TLF as well as the underlying muscular tissue is determined by means of myotonography (MyotonAS; Tallinn, Estonia). Here, a measuring probe painlessly intends a few millimeters into the tissue. Electronic force sensors determine the stiffness. 2 Fascia deformation / fascia thickness The fascial deformation of the thoracolumbar fascia (TLF) is determined using dynamic ultrasound. The subjects perform a trunk extension during which a distance is measured at the intersection of the latissimus dorsi muscle and the TLF against an artificial reference (reflective tape). The difference between the flexed and extended positions can be used to determine the percent deformability of the TLF (Brandl, 2021). The thickness of the fascia is determined by ultrasound. 3 Tensiomyography Tensiomyography measures the radial displacement of the muscle belly of the erector spinae muscle after electrical stimulation. Changes in this parameter allows conclusions to be drawn about the myofascial stiffness of the muscular tissue in particular (Martín-Rodríguez et al., 2017). 4 Shear wave elastography Using shear wave elastography, a quantitative measurement of tissue stiffness can be measured even in a small tissue sample. Here, the speed of shear wave transmission during an ultrasound examination is processed electronically and the elastic modulus is calculated in KPa (Wilke et al., 2022
