Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: - Diagnosis of RA according to the ACR/EULAR 2010 criteria (Aletaha et al. 2010) - Duration of disease less than three years - Active disease: DAS 28 (ESR) > 4 and = 3 swollen joints (40 joints considered) - Sufficient compliance with medication and attendance at examination appointments expected according to the physician's assessment - Legal capacity - Sufficient knowledge of German (for independent completion of the questionnaires) - Written consent to participate in the study
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: - Known hepatitis B or C infection - Creatinine clearance< 30 ml/minute - clinically relevant haematological disease - uncontrollable diabetes mellitus - uncontrollable arterial hypertension - relevant immunodeficiency incl. HIV infection - clinically significant pulmonary fibrosis - history of malignant melanoma - uncontrollable intraocular hypertension - no sufficient compliance
