Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Diagnosis of a depressive episode - Sufficient German

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Intake of benzodiazepines - Acquired brain injury/head trauma, - CNS-relevant somatic diseases (e.g., multiple sclerosis, epilepsy), - Serious somatic diseases (e.g. malignant tumors, HIV infection, AIDS), - Current infections, - Current life-threatening crisis with suicidality, - Psychotic disorder (current or lifetime), such as schizophrenia, schizotypal or delusional disorder - Schizoaffective, bipolar, or cyclothyme disorder (current or lifetime), - Eating disorder with body mass index < 15, - In case of substance dependence, no use of the substances in the last 6 weeks

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Improvement in cognitive performance before versus after the four-week training. Cognitive performance is assessed using the German version of the Screen for Cognitive Impairment in Psychiatry (SCIP).

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Improvement of depressive symptoms before versus after the four-week training. Depressive symptoms are assessed with the Beck Depression Inventory II (BDI II).
