Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Orthodontic correction planned with use of buccal fixed appliance - Permanent denture (if necessary 7s not yet erupted) - Signed consent of parent or guardian

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Missing teeth - Microdont teeth or abnormal shape - Tooth non-unions (permanent dentition) - Previous or planned extraction of permanent teeth - Poor oral hygiene (Silness/Löe plaque index = 1.0) before treatment - Gingivitis prior to treatment (Gingivitis Index > 0) - Baseline ICDAS index = 2 - Existing fillings or restorations - Pronounced crowding in the front (LII > 7) - Craniofacial syndromes/LKG/genetic diseases - Systemic diseases, increased need for protection

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary outcome measure is the change in ICDAS before treatment over the course of 6 months.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The secondary outcome measure is the change in the gingivitis index before treatment over the course of 6 months.
