Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - CP group: diagnosed with infantile cerebral palsy with resulting spasticity of the lower extremities. - Control group: healthy individuals matched for gender, age, and height to participants in the CP group. All groups: - Age: 12-18 years - Ability to consent - Consent and signed informed consent prior to the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Limitations of mobility that prevent 90° positions of the ankle joints and knees - Injuries or illnesses in the past six weeks that interfere with calf muscle contractions or the jump and hop test

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Feasibility of three different active muscle tests (maximal isometric contraction, controlled building-up and breaking-down isometric contraction, constant submaximal isometric contraction), defined as the number of successfully completed muscle tests per subject in both groups.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
- Feasibility of isometric muscle contractions of the plantar flexors, defined as duration and constancy of contraction measured by dynamometry. - Repeatability of the muscle architectural parameters fascicle length, pinna angle, muscle thickness, and fascicle curvature of the medial gastrocnemius, using B-mode ultrasound at rest and during dynamic isometric contractions - Repeatability of the indirect stiffness parameter shear wave velocity of the medial gastrocnemius by shear wave elastography at rest and during constant isometric contractions - Repeatability of the generated torque of the plantar flexors by means of dynamometry - Acceptability of the performed tests by means of questionnaire
