Group 1: The study of marker expression in inflammatory skin is performed by taking a biopsy of diseased skin (4mm punch biopsy) under local anesthesia.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All adult patients with atopic dermatitis from the Aachen Dermatology Clinic who consult the dermatology outpatient clinic or provide a nasal and skin swab for microbiological diagnosis during their inpatient stay and have lesional skin sites and agree with the study protocol.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patient refusal, patient unable to consent, and minors < 18 years of age.

The aim of the study is to compare the gene expression pattern and activated virulence factors of staphylococci during skin infection with quantitative cytokine expression and receptor expression on lesional and non-lesional skin.
